Cashalo Interest Rate: What You Actually Pay Per Month
Contents
Cashalo's interest rate is quoted two ways by its own channels, and the gap between them is the whole story. The website promises an effective rate of 12% per month for qualifying loans, and it discloses exactly what that contains: a 0.2% daily interest plus a 0.2% daily service fee. The App Store, meanwhile, publishes a ceiling of 15% monthly EIR, or 180% APR. This page lines up both prices, computes our standard month under each, and prints the late-fee ladder the lender discloses. Checked September 16, 2026.
The published band, side by side
| Source | Rate | What it contains |
|---|---|---|
| cashalo.com | 12% per month effective, from April 1, 2026 | "0.2% daily interest and a 0.2% daily service fee", for loans of ₱10,000 or less, 4 months or shorter |
| App Store listing | Maxima: daily interest 0.2%, daily fee 0.2%, max daily EIR 0.5%, max monthly EIR 15% | "Maximum Annual Percentage Rate (APR): 180%" |
The two channels do not contradict; they describe different edges. The site states the effective price for its standard small, short loan. The store states the worst case the product allows. Between 12% and 15% a month sits every loan the credit assessment produces, on amounts from ₱1,000 to a ₱13,000 cap for good-paying customers. The contract context and the license check are in the Cashalo review.
The benchmark price we use
Our site-wide test borrows ₱5,000 for 30 days, and a ₱5,000, one-month loan fits every condition of the 12% quote: amount ₱10,000 or less, term shorter than 4 months.
| Scenario | 30-day cost on ₱5,000 | Yearly rate (our estimate) |
|---|---|---|
| Website effective rate, 12% monthly | ₱600 | about 144% |
| App Store ceiling, 15% monthly | ₱750 | about 180% |
Both conversions are simple arithmetic, and both carry the "our estimate" label. Read them as the honest edges of one band. The 12% figure includes the service fee, which is more disclosure than most peers manage. The 180% APR ceiling, though, sits at the very top of our tables, shared with HoneyLoan's website version.
The late-fee ladder in detail
Cashalo's newsroom publishes penalty terms that most lenders leave dark. They follow SEC Memorandum Circular No. 14 of 2025, effective April 1, 2026: a 5% monthly penalty on the amount overdue, and a hard rule that total charges can never exceed 100% of what you borrowed. That 100% cap is the regulator's ceiling. Cashalo is one of the few lenders that prints it. A missed month on a ₱5,000 loan adds ₱250 at that rate; the debt can never grow past ₱10,000 total charges, however long it drags.
What is not published
Three blanks remain. The term: the site describes "4 months or shorter" for the standard rate, while the store says 61 to 180 days. Confirm which structure your offer uses. The service fee as a separate line: it exists only inside the 12% bundle, so there is no way to decline it. And the rate for loans above ₱10,000? Outside the standard quote entirely. The ceiling implies such offers exist, but no number is attached to them.
How to read your offer
First, check whether your loan qualifies for the 12% quote: ₱10,000 or less, 4 months or shorter. If it does, the effective rate should say so: 0.2% plus 0.2%, included. If your amount is larger, ask for the rate in writing before accepting; no public number covers you. Second, note the late terms: 5% monthly, capped at 100% of principal. Third, compare before you commit; VPlus states 18% a year and MoneyCat lends the first round free, both verifiable before an application. The loan calculator and methodology page convert any offer.
