Tala Interest Rate: What You Actually Pay Per Month
Contents
Tala's interest rate per month is a number we cannot print, because Tala never publishes one. No rate appears on its website, in its store listings, or in any official page we track. The lender shows your personal price inside the app, on the offer screen, before you accept. That design makes this the shortest honest rate page in our series: here is everything Tala does publish, here is the number it withholds, and here is how to see yours before you commit anything. What Tala publishes instead of a rate
| Item | Published value |
|---|---|
| Credit limit | Grows with good repayments, up to ₱25,000 |
| Repayment date | You pick it yourself, up to 61 days out |
| Interest rate | Not published |
| Fee schedule | Not published |
| Late-payment terms | Not published |
The model is clear from the table. Tala sells flexibility and speed. A self-picked due date is genuinely unusual in this market, and the limit ladder rewards on-time borrowers. What the model does not include is a public price. The Tala review verifies the license and the mechanics, and stops where the numbers stop.
Why the number stays hidden
Individual pricing is the stated logic of the whole sector: your rate reflects your credit assessment, so quoting one number would mislead someone. The argument is fair as far as it goes. Where it wears thin is comparison. Every other purchase you make today can be priced before you pay; a Tala loan cannot, until the app has your data and shows your offer.
The practical consequence is asymmetric information. Tala knows the price before you do, and you learn it at the moment commitment feels easiest. That does not make Tala a scam; the license verifies, and our records show no enforcement action. It makes the offer screen the most important document in the transaction.
The benchmark we refuse to fake
Our site-wide test prices ₱5,000 for 30 days everywhere. For Tala the test cannot run: no rate, no fee size, no worked example exists in official sources to feed the formula. We will not invent one, and you should distrust any site that prints a "typical" Tala rate; nobody outside the app has one.
What we can do is bracket it. Registered peers publish ceilings from 18% a year at VPlus to 131% at Mabilis Cash, with MoneyCat lending the first round free. Wherever Tala's private number lands, one of those published alternatives is likely to beat it, and all three can be compared before you apply. That comparison, not a phantom Tala rate, is the decision tool this page offers instead.
How to see your rate before you commit
Four steps, in order.
- Qualify inside the official app. Tala shows your offer there; no website, agent, or SMS link can quote it for you.
- Read the offer screen completely. The amount, the fee, the total repayment, and the date you picked sit on one screen. That total, not a monthly percentage, is the number to judge.
- Convert it. Enter the fee and term into our loan calculator to see the yearly cost; the formula is on the methodology page.
- Compare before accepting. If the yearly figure beats the published peers above, sign with confidence. If it does not, you now have the alternatives' numbers in hand.
Screenshot the offer either way. A priced commitment you agreed to in writing is the strongest position a borrower can hold.
Frequently asked questions
What is Tala's interest rate per month?
Tala does not publish one. The rate is set per borrower and shown only on the offer screen inside the app, before you accept. Any site quoting a specific Tala rate is guessing.
How much would a ₱5,000 Tala loan cost?
We cannot say, and neither can anyone outside the app: no fee schedule exists to compute from. Qualify, read the offer's total repayment, and run it through a calculator before accepting.
Is Tala more expensive than other loan apps?
Unknown, by design. Registered peers publish ceilings from 18% to 131% a year; Tala's private rates may sit anywhere relative to them. The comparison is impossible until an offer is on your screen.
Where can I see my Tala rate?
Inside the official app, on the offer screen that appears after qualification. The total repayment and your chosen date appear before you accept. Screenshot that screen; it is your record.
The bottom line for borrowers
Tala publishes flexibility, not prices: limits to ₱25,000, a self-picked date up to 61 days out, and a rate that exists only on your own offer screen. That screen is the whole ballgame; convert it before you accept. The lender's registry status is verified in our Tala review, with the license check at is Tala SEC registered.
